Jaime Lannister: Ruined or just Character Development?

A lot of people complained about the episode of Game of Thrones broadcasted the last April 20 2014 and the main reason I heard a lot was about Jaime Lannister being outside of character, because they say Jaime was redeeming himself and he being protective of Brienne and stuff, that people started to like him. Well I like the character, I almost like every single character in the story, ones more than others, I only don’t like Daenerys Mary Sue Targaryen, but that is for a complete different post.

So let’s see what is so redeemable of the good “King Slayer”

1 Killed the Aerys “Mad King” Targaryen (King he was supposed to follow blindly)
2 High treason, for sleeping with the queen. (Cersei’s idea but anyway)
3 Killed the 2 sons of Rickard Karstark (In battle but OK)
4 Killed his cousin to create a distraction.
5 Try to kill Brienne more several times, by his hand or by making her fight.
6 Advices Brienne to kill a merchant so he doesn’t talk.
7 Advices Brienne that is better if she let them rape her (Is better than being beaten and raped)

And that is so far, also what I could remember but what is so redeemable about him? He saved Brienne? He did that because she was going to be killed and he had an Oath to Catelyn Stark it could have been a guard or a horse. But also is the point where I say he is a complicated character, as he said “I have so many oaths that some contradict each other”

But I paid attention to the comments and the articles and I know how to find the subtext and read between the lines and what people was saying was “I like the character and I thought he was good, but now he does something I don’t like” Well tough, is the good part in the series, characters are complex and they are not going to be from one side or the other, sometimes they are going to do stuff that is not that good. So deal with it.
